PHUONG NAM INSTITUTE ORGANIZED THE CLOSING CEREMONY FOR THE TRAINING COURSE "MASTERING EVIDENCE-BASED MEDICINE: CRITICAL APPRAISAL AND APPLICATION"

On August 28, 2025, Phuong Nam Institute of Social Resource Development (Phuong Nam Institute), in collaboration with Binh Dinh General Hospital, held the closing ceremony for the training course titled “Mastering Evidence-Based Medicine: Critical Appraisal and Application”.

The closing ceremony was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including:

1. Mr. Do Van Tu - Director of Binh Dinh General Hospital Joint Stock Company;
2. Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Vy - Director of Phuong Nam Institute;
3. Assoc. Prof. Ho Xuan Quang - QNU Institute of Educational Sciences; Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Phuong Nam Institute;
4. Professor Nguyen Van Tuan - Director of the Centre for Health Technologies, University of Technology Sydney (Australia);

The training course titled “Mastering Evidence-Based Medicine: Critical Appraisal and Application” was organized by Phuong Nam Institute and Binh Dinh General Hospital, with Prof. Nguyen Van Tuan serving as the principal instructor and Dr. Tran Son Thach as co-lecturer. The three-day course (August 26-28, 2025), held at Binh Dinh General Hospital, attracted more than 60 participants from 47 educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and enterprises across 12 provinces and cities nationwide. The training course provides a foundation in evidence-based medicine, covering literature search, research design and appraisal, interpretation of findings, and sample size estimation.

Prof. Nguyen Van Tuan - Director of the Centre for Health Technologies, University of Technology Sydney (Australia) - shared at the ceremony, “I hope that the materials and lectures you have received will support your scientific activities. If you establish regular scientific meetings, you will notice substantial improvement in applying evidence-based medicine to patient care.”

Mr. Do Van Tu - Director of Binh Dinh General Hospital Joint Stock Company expressed, “This training course has provided valuable new knowledge and updates on global scientific research. I firmly believe that in the near future we will be able to apply these insights to advance our professional development and produce impactful, widely cited studies.”

In her address, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Vy – Director of Phuong Nam Institute - expressed deep appreciation for the dedication and support of Prof. Nguyen Van Tuan and Dr. Tran Son Thach, who had traveled from Australia to Vietnam to contribute to academic exchange. In addition, she expressed her gratitude for the support and collaboration of the Board of Directors as well as the relevant departments of Binh Dinh General Hospital.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Vy, Director of Phuong Nam Institute, announced the decision to award certificates of completion to the participants. This served as recognition of their dedicated learning, progressive spirit throughout the training course.

The training course, titled "Mastering Evidence-Based Medicine: Critical Appraisal and Application", has helped strengthen the professional capacity of healthcare staff and progressively standardize healthcare practices towards a more scientific, effective, and sustainable approach. At the same time, it represents a concrete effort to realize the spirit of Resolution 57-NQ/TW on advancing breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

The training course is part of ongoing efforts to enhance research capacity, promote evidence-based medicine, and develop a high-quality healthcare workforce to meet the demands of digital transformation and international integration in the new era. Phuong Nam Institute aims to further expand specialized training programs on research design, critical appraisal, scientific publication, and medical data analysis in various localities in the near future.
