Closing Ceremony of the Expert Course “Applications of AI in Data Analysis”: A Bridge to International Knowledge

(HCMC) – On the afternoon of January 12, 2026, Phuong Nam Institute formally held the Closing Ceremony for the Expert Course “Applications of AI in Data Analysis”.

Running from January 6 to January 12, 2026, the course provided the research community with the latest updates on applying AI in scientific data analysis. The ceremony was attended by Mrs. Nguyen Thi Xuan Vy – Director of Phuong Nam Institute, the organizing institution.

Notably, the training program was honored to be directly led by a team of prestigious scientists currently working in Australia:

• Prof. Tuan V. Nguyen, PhD: Distinguished Professor at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) – Australia and ranked in the top 0.05% of scientists worldwide in the fields of osteoporosis, bone density, and bone minerals, according to ScholarGPS (2025).
• Thach S. Tran, PhD: Senior Research Officer at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research (Australia).
• Huy G. Nguyen, PhD: Garvan Institute of Medical Research (Australia).

Impressive Scale and International Reach

The recent expert course on “Applications of AI in Data Analysis” recorded impressive milestones regarding its organizational scale. The program gathered nearly 150 participants, including experts and high-quality personnel from 92 diverse units, comprising educational institutions, hospitals, research institutes, and enterprises.

Specifically, the course's influence reached beyond 19 provinces and cities across the country to reach an international level. The participation of PhD candidates and practitioners working in developed nations such as the USA, Japan, Australia, and Denmark, among others, created a diverse and high-quality academic environment.

The course attracted a large number of participants from 92 domestic and international units.

Through 22 in-depth lectures and the dedicated guidance of Prof. Tuan V. Nguyen and his associates, participants were equipped with a comprehensive knowledge base to meet international standards of modern scientific research.

By the end of the course, participants had fully mastered the core objectives:

• Developing data analysis thinking and skills by combining Statistics and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
• Proficiently using R language and RStudio software for professional analysis tasks.
• Mastering the methods for building and evaluating prediction models.
• Mastering Meta-Analysis techniques to synthesize scientific evidence – a "golden" skill in evidence-based medicine.
• Applying Propensity Score/Analysis to solve causal analysis problems in real-world data.
• Understanding and applying the Mendelian Randomization method in causal inference.
