PHUONG NAM INSTITUTE ORGANIZED THE CLOSING CEREMONY FOR THE EXPERT COURSE “DATA ANALYSIS USING R”

On May 15, 2025, Phuong Nam Institute organized closing ceremony of the expert course “Data Analysis Using R” after six days of training.

The closing ceremony was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including:

1. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Xuan Vy – Director of Phuong Nam Institute;
2. Prof. Nguyen Van Tuan – Director of the Centre for Health Technologies at the University of Technology Sydney (Australia);
3. Dr. Tran Son Thach – University of Technology Sydney (Australia);
4. Prof. Dr. Dang Van Phuoc – Honorary President of University of Health Sciences – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Former President of University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City.

The expert course “Data Analysis Using R” organized by Phuong Nam Institute, was led by Prof. Nguyen Van Tuan as the main instructor and Dr. Tran Son Thach as teaching assistant. The six-day course took place at Phuong Nam Institute in Ho Chi Minh City and attracted over 100 participants from 70 educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and enterprises across nearly 20 provinces and cities nationwide. The main topics covered in the course included: Data and R; Principles of Data Analysis; Descriptive Analysis; Correlation Analysis; Linear Regression Models; and Logistic Regression Models.

During the ceremony, Prof. Nguyen Van Tuan – Director of the Centre for Health Technologies at the University of Technology Sydney (Australia) – shared his insights on the importance of scientific research: Currently, the presence of Vietnamese scientific research on the global stage remains modest; although the number of peer-reviewed journal publications worldwide has doubled, 70% of these publications are led by foreign institutions, with Vietnamese researchers mostly collecting data for foreign-led publications. With the goal of enhancing scientific research capacity for colleagues in Vietnam, this course, along with previous ones, has practically achieved that objective. On this occasion, I would like to wish all participants success in improving their research capacity, mastering their own research, and elevating their standing in the international scientific community.

At the closing ceremony, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Xuan Vy – Director of Phuong Nam Institute – expressed her gratitude for the special support and dedication of Prof. Nguyen Van Tuan and Dr. Tran Son Thach, who traveled from distant Australia to Vietnam to engage in academic exchange. Additionally, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Vy acknowledged the diligent learning spirit of the participants: Esteemed participants demonstrated serious commitment, positive attitudes, and actively interacted with the instructors. This affirms that the training objectives, curriculum, and activities of the course were successfully accomplished, with many activities supplemented, adjusted, and achieving results beyond expectations.

Concluding the ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented certificates to the participants who completed the course. This serves as recognition of their serious dedication to learning, proactive attitude, and the ability to apply practical knowledge throughout the training process.
