THE EXPERT COURSE "RESEARCH DESIGN AND ETHICS"

Commencement date: January 23, 2026 (Friday)

Pursuant to Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, policies on international cooperation and technology transfer have been successively promulgated. These policies have indirectly promoted the dissemination of research outcomes, particularly publications in reputable international journals. Many young researchers have become caught in a spiral of pursuing publication quantity, choosing simplistic research topics of low quality, or even of no real value. In addition, a number of recent cases involving violations of research ethics have prompted society to reassess the issue and to raise the question that research must comply with standards of research ethics.

Phuong Nam Institute respectfully announces to esteemed organizations, institutions, and participants the organization of the expert course “Research Design and Ethics”, which is delivered directly by Prof. Tuan V Nguyen, world’s top 0.05% of scholars in the specialties of osteoporosis, bone density, and bone mineral (according to ScholarGPS, 2025).

I. COURSE OBJECTIVE

The primary objective of the course is to equip participants with the ability to independently design sound, high-quality research from the outset, while fostering a strong and sustainable sense of research ethics, so that scientific inquiry is pursued not merely for incentives or academic credentials, but for the genuine value of knowledge itself.

Phuong Nam Institute expects that upon completion of the course, participants will:

- Confidently develop a research project, from formulating research questions to selecting appropriate study designs, determining sample size, and conducting proper data analysis;

- Identify and control common sources of bias, avoiding errors that may lead to manuscript rejection or retraction;

- Clearly understand ethical principles throughout the research and publication process, and know how to avoid predatory journals and research misconduct.

II. COURSE PARTICIPANTS

The course is designed for:

- Master’s students, doctoral students (PhD candidates) in health sciences, natural sciences, social sciences, economics, etc.;

- Early-career lecturers and researchers at universities, healthcare institutions, and research institutes;

- Physicians, pharmacists, and nurses who wish to conduct clinical or epidemiological research;

- Science administrators and members of research ethics committees seeking a deeper understanding of research design and research ethics.
