Phuong Nam Institute in collaboration with Binh Dinh General Hospital respectfully informs about the training course titled “Mastering Evidence-Based Medicine: Critical Appraisal and Application” conducted by Professor Tuan V Nguyen (one of the world’s top 1% experts in the field of Medicine).

In the context of increasingly evidence-based medical practice, the ability to access, analyze and apply medical evidence has become an essential requirement for healthcare professionals. However, assessing research quality, correctly interpreting statistical results and appropriately applying them to patient care remain major challenges for many healthcare facilities. The training course titled “Mastering Evidence-Based Medicine: Critical Appraisal and Application” was designed to meet this urgent need, helping participants master foundational knowledge of evidence-based medicine and develop critical thinking skills in clinical practice.

1. Course Objective

The main objectives of the training course is to equip participants with:

+ Fundamental knowledge of evidence-based medicine and the role of evidence in treatment decision-making;

+ Systematic literature search skills using PICOT;

+ Ability to differentiate and understand various clinical study designs;

+ Skills in assessing risk of bias and confounding factors in research;

+ Skills to interpret research results, including p-values, confidence intervals, absolute differences, odds ratios, risk ratios, and diagnostic indices;

+ Understanding and application of the QALY concept (Quality-Adjusted Life Years) in evaluating the effectiveness of medical interventions;

+ Foundational knowledge of sample size estimation in clinical research.

2. Course Participants

The training course is designed for clinical physicians, resident doctors, and medical specialists; faculty members at medical and pharmaceutical universities; biomedical researchers; nurses and pharmacists; healthcare staff; and businesses in the biomedical sector interested in applying evidence-based medicine in practice and research.

1. Prof. Tuan V Nguyen (Principal Lecturer)

Prof. Tuan V Nguyen is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Technology Sydney (Australia), Director of the Centre for Health Technologies at the University of Technology Sydney, and the first Vietnamese to become a member of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. Prof. Nguyen is one of the few Vietnamese experts abroad ranked among the top 1% of global experts, with over 300 WoS (ISI) publications and numerous articles published in prestigious international journals such as Nature, Science, Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, etc.

2. Dr. Thach S Tran

Dr. Thach S Tran is a lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney (Australia), with over 15 years of experience in research design and data analysis. He has published 68 peer-reviewed original publications and 3 systematic reviews in the top peer-reviewed journals such as The N Engl J Med, Lancet, Lancet Child & Adolescent Health, JAMA, JAMA Netw Open, PLoS Med, Eur Respir J, J Bone Miner Res, J Clin Endocrinol Metab, Clin Chem, and Diabetes Care. Within the last 5 years, he published 45 original papers and 1 Cochrane review.

1. Tuition fee: 3,500,000 VND/person
